Read Isaiah 52:13-53:12
(I)t’s what God had in mind all along,
to crush him with pain.
The plan was that he give himself as an offering for sin
so that he’d see life come from it—life, life, and more life.
And God’s plan will deeply prosper through him (Is. 53:10, MSG).
The journey to the empty tomb started long before you or I came along. In fact, God mapped out this journey as soon as sin became part of life. Because when sin entered, so did death. But He loved His creation. He loves you and me and every human He ever has and ever will create. He loves us so fiercely that He made a plan, a way for us to conquer the consequences of that sin (i.e. death). And He Himself walked He this journey straight through suffering and extreme torture into a borrowed tomb and then out three days later. He offered Himself as our substitute for the debt of sin that must be paid.
This video from the Bible Project helps explain it.
“He is the perfect sacrifice to which all the previous sacrifices were pointing all along.”
God took care of your debt and mine! The debt we could not possibly ever pay. Have you accepted God’s offer yet? Have you trusted Him to be your substitute for the debt you owe for the sin you’ve committed? Will you praise Him for what He went through for you?
Take a moment right now and thank Him for His love and what He did because of that love. Then live the life He died for you to live.
