March 8: Lamb of God

John 1:29-34; Revelation 14:1-5

Jesus has been called the Lamb of God since the day His cousin John the Baptist saw Him at the Jordan River that day. Lamb of God, the perfect sacrifice God required to make sinful man righteous. The sacrifice God required for yours and my sin, once for all, was made by God Himself, Jesus Christ.

He was the only one qualified to walk the journey to the empty cross, the perfect lamb sacrificed on the altar called the cross.

Watch below as the artist in this video takes to reproducing the famous painting, Agnus Dei by Francisco de Zurbaran. Open up the Word and read through today’s Scripture again, thoughtfully, meditatively, as you watch the meticulous strokes of his paintbrush. Consider, as he takes to every detail, the detail with which God executed His plan to pay the debt you could not pay as He sacrificed Himself and walked that journey to the empty tomb.
