Read Mark 5:1-43
In Biblical times, just like today, there were many people including some religious leaders who doubted Jesus’ power to heal. But here we see that even a legion of evil spirits living in a man knew who Jesus really was and they knew what powers He had and sought His mercy! They actually threw the man who they had been tormenting for years at Jesus feet and he was healed.
The woman with a bleeding condition went through the massive crowds seeking just a touch of Jesus’ garment. Her faith healed her. If she had had any doubts she would have possibly seen the crowd and thought “What’s the use?” “The crowd is too big. I’ll never get through.” But she didn’t and she was healed instantly!
Jarius could have given up seeking Jesus’ healing of his daughter especially when word came to him that she had died. He could have walked away. He could have become bitter thinking “Jesus healed other people, why not my precious daughter? He must not care!” But he didn’t and she was raised from the dead!
What do you think when you face illness or difficulties? When all of a sudden something happens that turns your world upside down. You pray but nothing happens. Is that when doubt raises its ugly head? Is that when you slip back into the crowd and withdraw your outreached hand thinking “What is the use?“
Amazing things can happen if you trust Jesus and never doubt. The woman didn’t doubt, Jarius and even the evil spirits didn’t doubt.
The lyrics to an old hymn stay it best:
If the world from you with hold of its silver and its gold,
And you have to get along with meager fare,
Just remember, in His Word, how He feeds the little bird—
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
If your body suffers pain and your health you can’t regain,
And your soul is almost sinking in despair,
Jesus knows the pain you feel, He can save and He can heal—
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
- Refrain:
- Leave it there, leave it there,
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there;
If you trust and never doubt, He will surely bring you out—
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
What or who do you need to take to the Lord? What pain is overwhelming you? What questions and problems do you have that no one seems to know the answers to? Work your way through the noise of this life, take them to Jesus, and LEAVE THEM THERE!
